Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects 24 million Americans which comprise 8% of the population and affects 1 out of 17 persons in the United States.

The main objective of this literature is to inform the audience about the severity of the disorder, and the three different types of diabetes such as gestational, diagnosed at the first trimester of pregnancy, type 1, insulin-dependence, and type 2 diabetes, which is high levels of glucose in the bloodstream.


This information is excellent for the general public towards becoming more knowledgeable about the effects that diabetes has on women, that they are at a higher risk for diabetes than men, foot care is critical.


Furthermore, the criteria for a diagnosis of diabetes according to the American diabetes association involves multidisciplinary principles of diabetic management such as client, family, nurse, educator, dietitian, an endocrinologist. However, as a preventative measure against the disease, their HDL levels must be above 35.
